In readiness for Christmas 2024, I have written a setting of the traditional carol, Balulalow (SATB), available in F minor or G minor. This setting has been written to raise money for Whittington Babies. Should you wish to schedule a performance of this work, do please let me know any details of the proposed concert or service. The piece is freely available to download, but in doing so please donate what you can to support the tremendous work of Whittington Babies, who since 1986 have supported families of sick and premature babies at London's Whittington Hospital. "The charity provides medical equipment and support facilities for the neonatal intensive care unit, as well as a parent support group by parents whose babies have been on the unit in the past." In February 2017, my twin daughters, Emily and Alice, were born very prematurely at 30 weeks. They were looked after in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at The Whittington Hospital in North London for five weeks, until they were strong enough to come home to us. This was an extremely difficult period of our lives, managing days in the hospital with our babies and their two-year-old brother at home. Emily and Alice are now happy and healthy seven-year-old girls, and we will be eternally grateful to The Whittington for the care and devotion they gave our family. Whittington Babies is a fantastic charity offering crucial support to the families of sick and premature babies, and to the hospital’s NICU. We are forever thankful.
